Bob Crowley wins Survivor: Gabon

Bow-tied schoolteacher Bob Crowley beat "Survivor" rivals Sugar and Susie to emerge as Sole Survivor on Sunday's season finale.

At age 57 the oldest winner in "Survivor" history, Crowley will take his $1 million prize back home to Portland, Maine.

Bearded, wiry and professorial-looking, he teaches high school physics in nearby Gorham.

"My plan was to fly under the radar as long as I could ... and be a nice guy, so that people would like me," Crowley summed up shortly after his name was announced by host Jeff Probst, on a post-game special aired live from Hollywood.

Runners-up were Susie Smith, the gabby 47-year-old hairdresser-homemaker from Charles City, Iowa, and 29-year-old Jessica "Sugar" Kiper, the blond pinup model from Brooklyn.

The winner was chosen by a seven-member jury of previously expelled contestants, to whom the three finalists appealed during their all-important last tribal council.

In that voting, Bob edged out Susie, 4 votes to 3, with Sugar snagging no one's support. "I had to lie - and that's part of the game - several times," Sugar acknowledged while pleading her case between giggles. "And I'm sorry."

Sent packing earlier in the finale were Kenny Hoang, a 22-year-old professional video gamer from Westminster, Calif., and Matty Whitmore, a 29-year-old personal trainer from Pacific Palisades, Calif.

This, the 17th edition of the CBS strategy-endurance game, was set in the West African nation of Gabon, where 18 castaways had come together when the season began.

JC Tiuseco wins the Survivor Phils.

I've been a avid follower of Survivor Philippines. And I don't ever missed a single episode. I followed the show from episode 1 up to the finale. I really enjoyed watching this show especially when challenges are showed. After the breathtaking episodes and the 39 days of trials, challenges and hardship. Finally the first Pinoy Sole Survivor declared its winner last night December 12, 2008 via a live telecast finale at the New GMA Studio 7 . Its JC Tiuseco won the title and a whooping P3m cash prize aside from that he won a car from a reward challenge of past episode. Wow that's a big money..

JC beat co-finalist Robert Vincent "Rob" Sy and 16 other castaways, including the eight Jury members—Charisse Yacapin, Cris Cartagenas, Zita Ortiga, Kaye Alipio, Marlon Carmen, Vern Domingo, Kiko Rustia and Jace Flores.

The Jury had the power to choose who will win the cash prize of three million pesos and the title, "Pinoy Sole Survivor."

Viewers of Survivor Philippines were also given the chance to pick the winner through text votes. People's choice will automatically have one vote, also dubbed the "Boto ng Bayan," in addition to the votes cast by the Jury.

JC got a total of 6 votes from the Jury while Rob got 2 votes. Likewise, the Pinoy viewers chose the court heartthrob (93 percent of the total number of text votes) over the lover boy (7 percent).

JC, who was initially deemed as lampa, had been one of the strongest contenders as early as the merge of the former Naak and Jarakay tribes into the Chalam tribe took place.

Backstabbing and broken alliances figured in the strategy of most castaways, but the court heartthrob was noted for playing the game with integrity.

Before JC was declared winner, he and Rob faced the Jury members in a tension-filled Tribal Council. The Jury took the opportunity to vent their anger and disappointment on JC and Rob, pointing out all the mistakes they comitted in the last 39 days.

In the end, the Jury chose JC to be the first-ever Pinoy Sole Survivor.

WHAT LIFE IS ABOUT

Along time ago, there was an Emperor who told his horseman that if he could ride on his horse and cover as much land area as he likes, then the Emperor would give him the area of land he has covered. Sure enough, the horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and rode as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could. He kept on riding, whipping the horse to go as fast as possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop because he wanted to cover as much area as possible. It came to a point that he had covered a substantial area and was exhausted and was dying. Then he asked himself, “Why did I push myself so hard to cover so much land area? Now I am dying and I only need a very small area to bury myself.”

The above story is similar with the journey of our life. We push very hard everyday to make more money, to gain power and recognition. We neglect our health, time, and our family and to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies love to do. One day when we look back, we will realize that we don’t really need much, but then we cannot turn back time for what have missed.

Manny Pacquiao Reigns Again...

“Thanks God for giving me that speed. That’s what I’m working (at) everyday at the gym,” Pacquiao said in an interview after defeating De la Hoya in their much awaited “Dream Match” in MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA.“Well, I did well tonight and I’m lucky I won. I’m so lucky because I controlled the fight in the first round,” he said. Pacquiao then proceeded to thank his supporters, some of them Philippine politicians who trooped to Las Vegas for the fight.

Pacquiao carried out his game plan to textbook perfection and perhaps closed a chapter in the history of boxing after he defeated the legendary de la Hoya after eight rounds on Sunday (Saturday, US time) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Active, methoidcal and simply dominant, Pacquiao took his time to trim down de la Hoya. His patience paid dividends midway through the match as de la Hoya's left-side cheek began to swell.

When de la Hoya's knees began to wobble and his eyes started to lose fire, Pacquiao went for the jugular. In the seventh, he cornered de la Hoya and pummeled him to the head and body. In the eighth, Pacquiao had de la Hoya by the ropes and pressed on the attack.

Pacquiao reached an all-new level of greatness after this one.

they smile at me...

Last night after my office, I'm on the road when I saw a really cute smiley up above in the sky. They smiled at me and it felt so good. The moon and two stars form a smiley in the sky. It happened around 6:30PM (GMT+8) yesterday evening, December 1, 2008 here in Cebu city. When I got home I told all my board mates about the smiley and right on they saw the amazing creation.

I took a picture but was not clear enough but I borrowed some pix. Look ========>>>>>>

It was reported in the late night news and they said that the two stars was the planet Jupiter & Venus.
